SL473 – Vintage Vinyl Disc Cutting Compressor

Based off of a VCA design, this compressor has a unique compressor/limiter/expander function that can shape the dynamics of your source. This compressor was the main compressor for vinyl disc cutting from the late 1970’s and on. Known for transparent clean compression, you can really compress the source without the typical negative effects.

The expander controls are found to the left with yellow knobs. The expander has a fixed attack and ratio, giving the user control of the Threshold and Recovery of the expander. The compressor is controlled by the black knobs, with the ratio knob being red. The compressor has a fixed threshold, to manage the fixed threshold, the user can add gain with the “Compr Gain” knob.

This compressor really excels on Mastering, Mix Bus, Drum Groups, and Vocals.

My first 64-bit VST

For my first 64-bit vst, I modeled the acoustical space of Anchor Masters (anchormasters.com) to create an accurate headphones mixing solution. In the same vain as Waves ARS3 and Slate Audio VSX, I modeled the crossfeed of the room and the studios frequency response with specific models of speakers. The user will be able to select 3 different studio monitors. Currently the plugin is in beta with hopes for a January release.

SL543 Console Compressor

Based off of the a VCA duo compressor module found on a “5000 series” modern console, the SL543 provides two modes that gives the user both aggressive and subtle compression.  In Feed Forward mode, its hard knee can be used to aggressively control dynamics, but in Feedback Mode, its soft knee is transparent for 2-bus dynamics.  This is one of those pieces of hardware that can be used on every track of your project!

SL532 Console EQ

Based off of the standard EQ module found on a “5000 series” modern console, the SL532 provides the features found on the original hardware.  This 3-band EQ is perfect for shaping sounds quickly in your mix.  It also includes a “color” circuit that when activated adds a bit of color to the sound that adds an vintage analog feel.

SL84 Console EQ

Based off of a British “80 series” console module EQ, the SL84 captures the sound and its Rock n Roll vibe of this vintage piece of hardware. Using IR technology for the design, the SL84 features true frequency response of the original hardware module.  Just adding the SL84 on every track of your session will add a subtle effect on your project.

SL63x

Influenced by the one of the simplest compressors known to man, the SL63x provides quick compression with only a slide of a fader.  Since the compression is program dependent, we added a Input knob for gain staging the audio level into the compressor, which in turn effects how the compressors works.
